Kellyn LaCour-Conant is a two-spirit daughter of the Cane River Creole community raised in Houston, Texas on Ishak land, who currently resides in Iti Humma (Baton Rouge), Louisiana. She works as a Climate Strategist with Taproot Earth where she facilitates grassroots justice movements regionally and globally. She holds BAs in Biology and Russian from Amherst College, an MS in Marine and Environmental Biology from Nicholls State University, and is currently a PhD Candidate in Urban Forestry at Southern University focused on traditional ecological knowledge (TEK), habitat restoration, and climate justice. Kellyn has served as an If/Then Ambassador with the American Association for the Advancement of Science since 2019 and was tapped as an Emerging Leader by Interfaith America in 2022. In her spare time, Kellyn enjoys baking, fishing, playing beach volleyball, and reading with her cats, Fela and Atwood.
