About Kelsi Peterman

I have been a classroom teacher for the past 8 years. In 2014, I started my teaching career at North Bay Haven Charter Academy teaching remedial reading classes for 7th and 8th grade students. It was there that I learned how to merge two curriculums to best meet the needs of my students. The following year, I moved to Georgia and began teaching in the Cherokee County School District (CCSD). Since being in Cherokee County, I have taught 6th-8th grade ELA and 7th grade social studies. I currently serve as PLC facilitator in my grade level, department chair, basketball cheer coach, and a student mentor. In 2017-2018 I was invited to help write the new Rigorous Design Curriculum for all CCSD middle schools. After finishing the process, I decided to get my Masters in Middle Grades Education. Through that program I learned more about school finances, leadership, and strategies for the ELA classroom. Shortly after finishing my Masters, I pursued my Educational Specialists degree in Curriculum and Instruction. During the 2021-2022 school year, I helped enhance the RCD curriculum. We focused on student choice and teacher clarity. In my time as an educator in Cherokee County, I have also participated in the CCSD Teacher Leader Academy, the Superintendent's ADHOC Committee to discuss middle school scheduling, and various other professional development opportunities.
