About Kelsie Last

I am interested in pursuing a career in water, environmental, and municipal law. My past externships have helped me to build strong research and writing skills in these areas of law. Two years ago, I worked at Modesto Irrigation District, one of the oldest irrigation districts in California, during California’s historic drought. I researched the effects of the drought on legal issues issues facing the agency, issues which would not have been concerns of the agency in years prior. I continued to work on issues relating to California’s drought and environmental laws in California and other western states last summer while at the U.S. Department of Justice, Environment and Natural Resource Division field office in Sacramento, California. At the Department of Justice, I was also able to expand my experience to litigation relating to various environmental and administrative law issues on a higher government level. These experiences helped me to solidify my interest in water and environmental law, and to gain important legal skills and characteristics that I will be able to use as an attorney.
