About Kema Charles

Kema Charles is a visionary leader, filmmaker, and advocate for youth empowerment through digital arts and STEAM education. As the Founder and Executive Director of Lights Camera Discover (LCD), Kema has dedicated over a decade to providing underserved youth with access to filmmaking, animation, and workforce development programs that foster creativity, teamwork, and career readiness. With a background in acting and production, Kema's journey in the entertainment industry began in leading to roles on television and behind the scenes in film production. In 2009, she launched Circle C Entertainment, further cementing her passion for storytelling and mentorship. Through LCD, Kema has impacted thousands of young creatives across multiple states, earning recognition such as the NBC Channel 12 Nonprofit Spotlight Award, South by Southwest Community Service Organization Award, and the Phoenix Suns Golden Standard Award. Beyond LCD, Kema is deeply involved in workforce development, mental health advocacy, and community engagement, recently joining the Cultural Sustainability Advisory Council. She are also spearheading multiple ventures, including Ten O Two Entertainment and PrintLab Creations, supporting students in film, photography, animation, and entrepreneurship. Kema’s commitment to empowering the next generation continues to drive her work, ensuring that youth from all backgrounds have the tools to pursue their passions and build sustainable careers in the creative and STEAM industries.
