About Kemal Ozalp

As a Postdoctoral Associate in Machine Learning at Collaborations Pharmaceuticals, I apply my skills and knowledge in data science, biology, and engineering to solve practical problems in the drug discovery field. I have built and developed several machine learning models, such as a few-shot learning model for hit-identification and lead optimization, and a physics-guided LSTM model for multivariate regression of organophosphate pesticide metabolism. I have also analyzed and manipulated various datasets, using Python and its modules, such as Numpy, Pandas, Scipy, Matplotlib, Seaborn, and scikit-learn. My passion for data science stems from my curiosity and fascination with living systems and their behaviors. I have a PhD in Biology from UNC-Chapel Hill, where I worked on various projects ranging from flow in insect hearts to plankton dispersal. I have published my findings in scientific conferences and journals, and collaborated with experts from different fields, such as mathematics, physics, and computer science. I have also mentored 13 undergraduate students and supervised the development of an image processing toolbox in MATLAB. I am eager to join teams that use statistics, machine learning, and deep learning to get insights from data and build predictive models.
