About Ken Dwight

Ken Dwight is a computer virus expert who has personally removed viruses and other malicious software from thousands of infected computers since assuming the name The Virus Doctor™ in 2002. Some weeks he may see only a few computers, but it’s more typical for him to work on a dozen or more in a given week. In extreme cases he has cleaned 20-35 computers in a single day. Building on this wealth of specialized expertise, Ken created the Virus Remediation Training workshop in 2009. This unique workshop teaches experienced IT support technicians a structured methodology that helps them find and remove all types of malware on infected computers – desktops, laptops, and even servers. The workshop materials and tools are continually updated, to keep up with the ever-evolving threat posed by malware in its various forms. Hundreds of technicians, in most of the United States and 8 foreign countries, have completed this training, earning the designation Certified Malware Removal Specialist (CMRS) upon successful completion of the course (CMRS only awarded since 2013). In 2005 Ken wrote the best-selling, IPPY Award-winning book "Bug-Free Computing: Stop Viruses, Squash Worms, and Smash Trojan Horses."​ The book was updated in a second printing in 2006, but is now out of print. In addition to his virus-removal and computer consulting activities, Ken is also an accomplished professional speaker who speaks to organizations and professional associations about computer-related topics, especially related to online security. Ken has been a computer professional since 1966, when he was hired as a Programmer Trainee on mainframe computers. Yes, this was 15 years before the IBM Personal Computer was introduced (1981) and before “toy computers” started appearing in homes.
