About Ken Eng

On April 30, 2022, I retired from the Vancouver Police Department after 30 years of exemplary service. I was most recently the Inspector I/C of the Forensic Services Section which is comprised of the Forensic Identification Unit, Forensic Video Unit, Forensic Firearm and Toolmark Unit and the Forensic Identification Administration Unit. I am a proven leader with extensive Investigative, Operational, Human Resources, Training and Administrative capabilities that has held a variety of supervisory and managerial roles. I have worked in Patrol, Tactical Support (Surveillance), Recruiting, Criminal Intelligence, Human Resources, Traffic and three tours with the Professional Standards Section. I also had the opportunity to be a Venue Commander in charge of all security aspects during the 2010 Olympic Games at the IOC's Olympic Club. From October of 2022 to April 2024, I was the Manager of Bylaw Operations for the City of Richmond where I was responsible for managing the operations and budgeting of the Bylaw Property Use, Parking, Soil and Administrative Units. I fostered relationships with first responders, social development, housing and health staff from both the City and the Province where I oversee complex community safety issues such as homelessness camps, problematic residences and inter-governmental community safety issues. In June 2024, I returned to Law Enforcement with Surrey Police Service as the Staff Sergeant in the Professional Standards Section. Throughout my career, I have regularly exceeded expectations in every assignment, while demonstrating the ability to make decisive and rational decisions in a fast-paced environment with unremitting character and strong interpersonal skills that allows for open and effective communication. I am a very well respected individual, personable and engaging with a focused leadership that encourages and facilitates innovation, professional development, accountability and results. I have established positive relationships with business and community stakeholders and I am actively involved in my community coaching youth sports.
