INNOVATION Proposed, designed, developed, and maintained an automated claim processing solution utilizing MS SQL Server, MS VBA, and IBM PCOMM emulator. Identified input errors and wrote both Excel and Access VBA scripts that read the claims, tested for common errors, and corrected specific discrepancies using a custom rules engine. Secured a 90% reduction in re-processed claims; 30% reduction in overall processing time (7 days vs 10 days), eliminated 3rd party staff augmentation by 12 FTE, and shortened back-log processing by 85%(1 month vs 6 months). REPORTING Automated reporting by building an ETL solution utilizing MS SQL stored procedures to import and scrub raw claim data into a custom MS SQL Database; wrote VBA macros in Excel to export and format monthly reports according to CMS requirements. New monthly reports were generated in 3 days vs 30 days, and improved productivity by 96%. Improved accuracy by eliminating 98% of records with errors and avoided $2M in penalty fees.
