About Ken Fishman

Kenneth L. Fishman, Ph.D, P.E. is a geotechnical engineer, with more than thirty years of experience that includes 8 years as an Assistant Professor at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Dr. Fishman has been employed at McMahon & Mann Consulting Engineering and Geology, P.C.(MMCE) since 1995, an engineering firm specializing in geotechnical engineering; and is currently a Principal in the firm. He is a licensed professional engineer, registered to practice in the States of New York and New Hampshire and, throughout his career, has been actively involved in teaching, research and consulting in the field of Geotechnical Engineering. Dr. Fishman is a recognized expert in condition assessment and corrosion monitoring of earth reinforcements based on his participation in research and applications over the past twenty years. Dr. Fishman currently serves as principal Investigator for NCHRP Project 21-11 “Improved Test Methods and Practices for Characterizing the Steel Corrosion Potential of Earthen Materials,” which is an outgrowth of his previous experience with in situ corrosion monitoring and electrochemical testing. Dr. Fishman started ERTesting in 2007 to build on his previous experience, and provide testing and field services for condition assessment and asset management of in-service earth reinforcements. ERTesting is currently a division of MMCE. He is author of over 40 publications in the area of geotechnical engineering including NCHRP Report 477, “Recommended Practice for Evaluation of Metal-Tensioned Systems in Geotechnical Applications”; and several comprehensive reports describing results from FHWA/State DOT sponsored demonstration projects conducted in the states of Nevada and New Hampshire.
