About Ken Heiny

I thank our God above for blessing me with education and knowledge and keeping me safe in all I do! I have a wonderful family and some pretty great friends, my hope is to really be able to spend more time with them and family! With all life has to offer sometimes we become stagnet in the life we lead, look up and always remember to thank God for all things! A little about me. I went into the United States Marine Corps Reserve after high school and served proudly until leaving as a Sergeant in 1985. I joined Indianapolis Power and Light Company in September 1979, I left in 1993 to purse the full-time position with Hamilton County Sheriff's Department, served for 10 years and left after completing many schools, specifically in the field of training and held an Instructors rating with the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. I started my career in law enforcement in 1980 as a reserve officer in my home town of Sheridan, Indiana. I came back to Indianapolis Power and Light Company in 2003. I made a run for Hamilton County Sheriff in May of 2010, and found that unless you have support from politicians it is almost impossible to win. The experience I acquired from this political run changed nothing of the way I ran the campaign and if I am silly enough to try again would not change the way I would run again. Politics should be about the people and not the politician, and yes, change is good sometimes. Specialties: Manager Field Training, Small arms armor, Glock armor, served as Assistant SERT Commander HCSD, Field Training Officer, have written many lesson plans, S.W.A.T.Instructor, K-9 Instructor, Electrician 30+ years, Lineman, Troubleman, Service Dispatch, Scuba Diver, Media Relation. Just to name a few.
