Over 44 years in railroad structural design, bridge inspection, bridge rating and analysis, developing annual budgets and recommending which bridges to include in the Capital rebuild program for BNSF Railway. Recently completed the design-bid package for BNSF Railway's Bridge 0.59 over Salt Creek in Ashland, NE which is under construction and scheduled for roll in sometime Fall of 2019. Currently, I am recently retired from STV Incorporated in their Mission, KS office. While employed there, I helped them to help expand their presence within the western Class 1 rail carriers - BNSF Railway and UPRR. While the railroad bridge engineering industry has seen recent sluggishness, it is still a vibrant business to be involved with. From July 2008 to October 2016 I helped develop and expand the railroad bridge engineering team at Olsson Associates working with a multitude of projects for the BNSF, UPRR & the K.C. Terminal and Kansas City Southern Railway as well as bridge projects for short line railroads (The Genesee & Wyoming and Lake Superior & Ishpeming R.R.) and the Kansas D.O.T- railroad track & bridge inspection services. I also helped develop plans, specifications and bid package to rehabilitate the Washington Ave. viaduct over the UPRR tracks in Sedalia, MO. This bridge rehab provided the city with the lowest cost alternative and the most expeditious route to reopening a critical North-South arterial link within the city's transportation system. The bridge was completed on budget and ahead of schedule. Specialties: Railroad bridge design and inspection/rating, rehabilitation, cost estimating, shoring protection plans, extending culverts, retaining walls and assorted miscellaneous structures.
