About Ken Letander

Ken Letander is the founder of Strat First Inc, a strategic advisory practice specializing in infrastructure development, Indigenous engagement, and risk management. He brings a systems-level approach to engineering and energy initiatives nationwide, with a focus on ethical integration and long-term resilience. Ken began his public service career with the Government of Alberta, contributing to the 2013 Southern Alberta Flood Recovery efforts for two First Nation communities. He later supported governance modernization at the Public Agency Secretariat, helping centralize and streamline Alberta’s Agencies, Boards, and Commissions (ABC). In the private sector, Ken has worked on major infrastructure projects, including Ontario’s Small Modular Reactor (SMR) program. He brings over 15 years of experience in Indigenous relations, government policy, community engagement, and the engineering sector. Throughout his career, Ken has led complex program development, including forecasting Indigenous procurement and recruitment strategies for SMR deployment with Candu Energy Inc, and designing Indigenous policies, processes, and compliance frameworks for construction and engineering sectors across North America. Ken holds an MBA in Marketing Management, with a specialization in strategic de-risking and process design, and a BSW focused on legal accessibility. He is a frequent speaker on ethics, risk, Indigenous procurement, and branding, and is a member of the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS). He is also a nationally recognized artist.
