About Ken MacLean

Ken helped Anne set up the Gecko Travel Clinic in 2013 and works with her on non-clinical aspects of the business. He was formerly a General Manager at one of Scotland’s leading tour operators, Haggis Adventures, where he worked with a team as enthused about travel and culture as our own Gecko team. Like Anne, Ken spends as much of his free time as possible travelling and, as a keen cyclist, skier, runner and PADI Advanced Scuba Diver, adventure is never too far away. Keen to broaden his horizons, Ken has also completed studies in complementary therapies, gaining diplomas in Swedish and Remedial and Sports Massage, which gave him the opportunity and rewarding experience of volunteering in the Day Unit at Strathcarron Hospice. Be sure to keep your eye out for Gecko Massage, coming soon! Qualifications include BSc Hons; Diplomas in Swedish and Remedial and Sports Massage. Member of the Scottish Massage Therapists Organisation Ken’s travels have taken him to Europe, South East Asia, India, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Australia, the Caribbean, USA and Canada. Ken is just as passionate about travel at home and never tires of revisiting favourite places or setting off to explore a little bit more of Scotland. Travel highlight: “Watching the sunrise over the ancient temples of Bagan in Burma - sadly we could only afford to look up in awe at the magical hot air balloons flying overhead. Cycling there, along dusty tracks in the cool of dawn through herds of goats, well, that was just something else.”
