About Ken Simons

I have been engaged in academic medicine for 26 plus years, starting out as a residency training director and now overseeing the graduate medical education programs at MCW. I have served on the Board of the ACGME which accredits over GME programs in the US and chair its Policies & Procedures Committee and the Committee on Requirements. I am a past Chair of the Governing Council of the AMA Section on Medical Schools and currently serving as its delegate to the AMA House of Delegates. Currently, I serve on the Board of Directors of the NRMP which is responsible for matching LCME, IMG and Osteopathic graduates into ACGME accredited programs. I am the current Chair of the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board having been appointed by the Governor of WI and unanimously confirmed by the State Senate. In addition, I am a professional member of the LCME, the accrediting body for all US allopathic medical schools and the ACGME-I Surgical and Hospital based Review Committee. All of this is in addition to practicing my specialty at 20% FTE. My goal is simply to contribute to and make US and International medical education and medicine better and safer for patients and trainees at all levels.
