About Ken Teoh

I am a passionate advocate for fair representation and equity, driven by my own lived experiences. My journey started in hospitality, but through my studies at UTAS and my role as an International Peer Leader, I discovered the profound impact of peer work in building inclusive communities. As a Peer Mentor, I work to support Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities in navigating mental health and social services. I believe in breaking echo chambers, connecting people from different backgrounds, and fostering meaningful change. Through my work—whether facilitating English-speaking sessions (Lingo Lounge) or mentoring individuals—I strive to create safe, trauma-informed spaces where people feel heard, valued, and empowered. I am eager to deepen my understanding of mental health and the human services sector, with the goal of becoming a social worker. To me, kindness without action is performative, and the status quo is often harmful. That’s why I am committed to driving change that truly makes a difference.
