Background
About Ken Woods
I am passionate about making lasting contributions. I continuously strive to improve my work environment and invest in the development of my subordinates. I consider it well worth my time to assess and refine processes to achieve the best possible results. This has led me to develop common purpose with people in other functional areas within my organization. Work relationships and team-building are cornerstones of work success. My interest in lasting contributions extends to my broader interest in teaching and mentoring. I spend mental and physical energy thinking of ways to positively influence the next generation. This has led to involvement in several mentorship programs including a long-term effort with Big Brothers of San Antonio. In the past, I have also helped integrate new immigrants and tutored adult literacy. When the day comes for me to leave the Army, I look forward to a second career in education. One of my greatest academic interests includes thinking about language and the best ways to use it to communicate clearly. I take time to talk with coworkers about how to structure documents and arguments to achieve desired results. I have solid technical and artistic writing skills. I have written official responses to the U.S. Congress and have assembled briefing packets to the Chief of Staff of the Army. I have briefed up to the 3-Star level and am comfortable speaking in public. I try to model my Christian values in how I conduct myself while being careful to separate my religion from work. I believe the most important principle in life is to love God with all my heart, mind, and soul. After that, I am to love my neighbor as myself. When I follow these priorities, my life is in perspective and I am at peace with the decisions I make and the relationships I build.
