About Kendall Burchard

Kendall Burchard is a senior associate in Covington & Burling LLP's Appellate and Supreme Court Practice Group. Her practice focuses on appellate matters and complex dispositive motions. She has argued numerous appeals before state and federal appellate courts, and has briefed dozens of appeals, extraordinary writs, and dispositive motions in courts across the country, including merits and amicus briefing in the United States Supreme Court. Kendall has particular expertise litigating issues affecting online services, including Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, the First Amendment, and personal jurisdiction. She regularly advises clients on these and other constitutional law issues to ensure compliance with new regulatory frameworks and to mitigate litigation risk.Kendall maintains an active pro bono practice, primarily focused on civil rights litigation and gun violence prevention. In 2025, Covington recognized Kendall as a Charles F.C. Ruff Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year for her outstanding pro bono work. Her pro bono work has also been recognized by the D.C. Bar Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll and the Virginia State Bar Access to Justice Commission Pro Bono Service Honor Roll.
