About Kendra Almon

I am a newly Registered Practical Nurse. I am a current BScN student in my first year at Nipissing University. I am also a graduate of a double major in Honours Gerontology and Health studies from McMaster University. Through past and present volunteer experiences, I have integrated myself within the Hamilton and Guelph communities, whether it be through camp counselling, peer coaching the Special Olympics, volunteering at daycares or multiple retirement/long-term care homes. I have spent most my life thus far dedicating my time to improving other people's human experiences through social service opportunities. I hope to use my strong educational background, personal experiences, and problem solving techniques that I have developed over the years within my career to achieve these goals. I am a strong advocate for Mental Health Awareness as well as the de-stigmatization of illnesses and disabilities in hopes of fighting against Ableism. I am highly open to new experiences and offers that may arise and am thankful to of been born with the privilege that allows me to successfully involve myself within the westernized world of opportunity. While being aware of my privilege, I am continuously working to eliminate these boundaries and lessen the amounts of ignorance that are inevitably correlated with such privileges.
