About Kendra Coy

While being an educator at Friendship Public Charter schools, Kendra Coy has learned the virtue of patience and emotional intelligence, Giving her a better understanding that anything is possible with time, care, and community. With the support of learning and becoming a certified observer of the CLASS observation tool used by OSSEE in ECE classrooms, NAYCE certification, and BA in Early childhood education. These supported Coy in becoming a mental health advocate and supporter of her student while also being a steward of their academic needs. Teaching also helped Coy foster her organization, problem-solving, and multitasking skills to fortify smooth transitions and learning in the classroom. Effective utilizing the foundations and frameworks in place while forging streamlined processes and data tracking to help her students be successful. In her role at Teach for America, Coy has assisted our corps members in an essential step in their TFA journey, the beginning. In the process of confirmation, data tracking, and practice interviews. Coy seeks to build community and connection amongst corps members, staff, and school partners. Ultimately guiding them to the first day of school. Coy strives to have Culture, community, connection, impact, and creativity in her work professionally and in her personal life. Outside of work, Coy seeks to increase her creative abilities. It could be painting with acrylic or creating new journals sold on Amazon and published through Amazon. As well as training to be an emotional intelligence coach. As she transitions to alumni work, Coy hopes to foster the same principles of Diversity, Equity, and inclusion, as well as continued personal growth and TFA knowledge.
