About Kendra Marr

I am a registered teacher with the Ontario College of Teachers. I am qualified to teach primary, intermediate and secondary drama, history and have acquired additional qualifications in Special Education and Guidance and Career Education. I am particularly interested in the practices of restorative justice and have trained with Peacebuilders International and attended several other workshops and trainings, most recently through the IIRP. I am also interested in the theories and practices presented in texts such as Pedagogy of the Oppressed and Theatre of the Oppressed. I have trained as a Joker with Mixed Company Theatre and have worked with the Halton District School Board to facilitate a Forum Theatre production on bullying in schools. As an arts educator I am most passionate about encouraging critical thinking and a desire to create positive social change. I believe that socially conscious teaching practices and restorative approaches create a positive learning space and help students (of all ages) to develop a sense of community within the classroom.
