About Kendra Middlebrook

I am a new graduate of the East Tennessee State University, having earned a Master's of Public Health degree with a concentration in epidemiology. During my time at East Tennessee State University (ETSU), I became an intermediate user of SAS and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint) and also demonstrated proficient use in Tableau and R. At ETSU, I completed multiple projects aimed at addressing urgent public health issues including an over 300% increase in cases of COVID-19 among the youth of Northeast Tennessee in a year over year analysis and the identification potential contributors and adverse outcomes of COVID-19 infections among the population 5 years of age and older. The results of my analyses have been upheld by stakeholders of the Tennessee Department of Health to make informed public health decisions for seven counties across the Northeast Tennessee region, serving over Tennesseans. In addition, I have received 60 hours of substance abuse education from New York University, and 300 hours of interprofessional training in neurodevelopmental and related disorders from Vanderbilt University. As a public health professional, my career goals include reducing health inequities amongst minorities in the U.S, serving and properly representing underserved areas in public health legislation and creating a mutual aid fund to provide communities with necessary resources that may be inaccessible to residents due to cost, access or location. I have a strong interest in chronic disease research, especially in the aftermath of long COVID, but the subject of public health as a whole is my passion.
