About Kendra Wineberg

After graduating from Appalachian State University in 2013, my teaching career began in Wilkes County, North Carolina in an eighth-grade Social Studies classroom at West Wilkes Middle School. During my five years of teaching at this school, I primarily taught seventh-grade English Language Arts and Social Studies. I served as the Beta Club sponsor from 2015 until 2018 which involved planning and organizing fundraisers, special events, and meetings. I functioned as the grade level GEAR UP coach through Appalachian State and organized field trips, unit plans, special events, and meetings for the 2015-2018 school years. I presented Google web tools and other teaching resources to Wilkes County's English Language Arts teachers, applied for and received a Kitestrings Grant, actively participated in the MTSS, formerly known as Response to Intervention, committee, and presented reading strategies to West Middle staff during a 2016 professional development workshop. In 2018, I transitioned to Ashe County Middle School in Warrensville, North Carolina as an eighth-grade English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher. I’ve served as a School Improvement Team leader, team leader, department chair, and club leader during my time at Ashe Middle. I have served, and currently serve, on numerous school-based committees including the ACMS Social and Winterfest committees. On a daily basis, I track and monitor student progress through data monitoring and interventions while also creating engaging, challenging, and standards-based classroom tools that meet the needs of individual learners. My instruction is relevant and differentiated as I currently teach a wide range of ability levels in both English Language Arts and Social Studies. I am proficient in Google Drive and Microsoft tools, and I can easily implement technology into everyday classroom instruction. I was voted as and awarded the 2022-2023 Ashe County’s Best of the Best Teacher award.
