About Kennedy Williams

I am a sincere, creative, and playful Child and Youth Care practitioner. I come to this work aiming to create a space that centres safety, dignity, and empowerment in order to foster relationships in a meaningful way, while infusing humour and playfulness into the process. Drawing on decolonial, feminist, strengths-based, and client/family-centered approaches, I ensure that my clients, as well as their families and community, have an active voice in the work being done. I completed my undergraduate degree in Child and Youth Care with an Indigenous specialization at the University of Victoria in April of 2021, and am in the process of obtaining my Master’s Degree through Child, Youth, Family & Community Studies at the University of Victoria. With experience working as a Child and Youth Worker with Human-Nature Counselling Society, an Indigenous Youth and Family Counsellor and Indigenous Education Assistant for SD63, and an Indigenous Summer Camp Coordinator for the University of Victoria, I have been required to work in a culturally competent manner while being trauma-informed. I have dedicated myself to providing a safe space to interact with children, youth, families, and communities as they navigate illness, substance use, mental health, and homelessness.
