After selling our business Compass Fleet Management to NYSE & JSE listed MiX Telematics, I launched two new companies that focus on making fleets safer and more profitable.#1: TankSafe South Africa - TISS SA (Pty) Ltd is a 50/50 Joint Venture with TISS Ltd - United Kingdom. TISS Ltd has designed, developed, and sold over 1'8 million TankSafe diesel anti-siphon devices worldwide to OEMs, Truck Dealers, Distributors, and Truck Owners. Stopping diesel theft is the quickest and most cost-effective way for truck owners to make more profit. Over 75% of Trucks and Buses in South Africa are unprotected. TankSafe has been sold in South Africa since 2009 via 3rd party distributors. This new JV gives us the opportunity to engage directly with OEMs, Truck Dealers, and Truck Owners with local technical and sales support to achieve our goal of being the Market Leader in Africa. Generic anti-siphons don’t stop fuel theft from full tanks. A conservative 50l loss per week is R35k per truck per year. TankSafe Optimum is a next-generation anti-siphon that protects 100% of the diesel in a full tank, fills quickly, and prevents overfilling or spillage. We worked with our customers to identify opportunities where we could help them turn data into value added services to help them solve problems and get results. Telematics companies gather lots of data to identify problems but they and their clients struggle to use this information to change behaviour leaving truck owners frustrated that they don't get the desired ROI. At Fleet Best Practice we developed several applications that use all the exception events and dash cam video data and feed only the necessary information to the right person at the right time where it can be used most effectively to increase uptime, compliance and deal with repeat offenders to drive results. Every person's performance whether they are a driver, coach, fleet manager, call centre agent or video analyst are individually monitored so that we identify weaknesses and maximize the effectiveness of the programs as everybody is accountable for the success of the program.
