About Kenneth Baskin

In 1991, while serving as an aircraft avionics maintenance technician in the US Air Force, a change in strategy from our headquarters drove me into an entirely new career path: IT project management. Career wise, it was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. I spent the next 15 years of my USAF career managing projects all over the globe in some really interesting places (some very lush and green, some very cold and snowy, and others very hot, dry, and sandy). Upon successful completion of my USAF career, I joined Lexmark International, Inc. and continued my journey. The skills I gained in the USAF transferred to an exciting role implementing managed print services solutions to Lexmark customers. My latest career adventure has taken me down the path of Scrum Master. Seeing the benefits of Agile while serving development teams has been absolutely amazing. The bonus for me is the people side of things. I get excited about the opportunities to meet and work with people from all over the world. Someone recently asked me my opinion on our company's transition to Agile. My reply: 1. Increased visibility and transparency between IT and our business partners. Everyone has the ability to agree on the highest priorities and be involved in the work as features and stories are developed, tested, and released. Our ability to release valuable product updates on a more frequent basis. The focus on planning. We are doing a much better job of understanding the capacity of our development teams and breaking the work down into manageable chucks. People can feel a greater sense of accomplishment when given the tasks and allowed to focus on those items until complete. I am excited about the future and where this journey leads!
