About Kenneth Decock

Kenneth is an attorney representing clients in Sheridan, Gillette, Casper, Cheyenne and other communities throughout Wyoming. Kenneth has extensive experience in criminal law, having prosecuted and defended persons accused of committing crimes such as murder, arson, drug trafficking, assault & battery, DUI, domestic violence and more. Kenneth’s skill as a criminal defense attorney was recognized in 2015, when he was named both a “Top 100 Criminal Trial Lawyer” by The National Trial Lawyers, and “Top 10 Attorney” for the State of Wyoming by the National Academy of Criminal Defense Attorneys. In 2016, Kenneth was again named “Top 100 Criminal Trial Lawyer” by The National Trial Lawyers and was invited to become a member of The American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys. Prior to becoming an attorney in 2001, Kenneth served as a police officer and deputy sheriff for fourteen years, where he received extensive training on police tactics and investigative techniques. During his years in law enforcement, Kenneth obtained an in-depth understanding of criminal investigations and interview techniques that he now utilizes for the benefit of his clients. As an attorney, Kenneth’s primary focus has been DUI and criminal defense, juvenile law, divorce & child custody, workers’ compensation and civil litigation. He was a deputy prosecuting attorney in Gillette, Campbell County, Wyoming before opening Plains Law Offices, LLP with his wife, Erin Mercer, in 2004. Kenneth and Erin ran Plains Law Offices, LLP together until 2011, when Kenneth was elected as county and prosecuting attorney for Johnson County, Wyoming. In 2015, Kenneth returned to private practice and Plains Law Offices, LLP where he again focuses his practice on DUI & criminal defense, juvenile law, divorce, child custody, workers’ compensation and civil litigation.
