About Kenneth Liske
Kenneth L. Liske, Ph.D, is Assoc. Professor and Coordinator of Music Teacher Education at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, where he has taught since His students have become leading music educators in Wisconsin and beyond. Dr. Liske was President of the Wisconsin Music Educators Assn.(WMEA) from 2006-2008, WMEA Council Research Chair, Higher Education Chair, and Chair of the Wisconsin Society for Music Teacher Education from 2001-2014. He was previously Director of Music Education for the Badger State Girl Choir and web developer/editor for the Wisconsin Choral Directors Assn. Dr. Liske manages the Wisconsin School Music Assn. State Music Festival at UW Oshkosh and frequently hosts events of the state's Kodály and Orff-Schulwerk teacher groups. He advises UWO’s nationally recognized NAfME Collegiate student chapter, and he helped develop Wisconsin's first university-based alternative add-on licensure program in music. Dr. Liske serves on the leadership council of UWO ArtsCore, and SOAR, supporting visiting artists in Oshkosh area schools. Dr. Liske taught K-12 music for nine years in Ohio and Louisiana. He was an adjudicator, festival and contest chair, state contest music selection committee member, vocal coach and musical director for high school, community, and children’s theatre. Dr. Liske directed the Singing Collegians Show Choir of Heidelberg University (Ohio), sang with the Toledo Masterworks Chorale, and later, directed youth music at First Methodist Church of Baton Rouge. Dr. Liske earned his B.Mus. in Music Educ. and Voice from Heidelberg Univ.(Ohio), M.Mus. in Music Educ. from Bowling Green State Univ.(Ohio), and Ph.D. in Music Educ. and Educational Technology from Louisiana State University. He is author of "Musical Elements: A Classroom Method for Handchimes." He has contributed to "Update: Applications of Research in Music Education,""Overtones," and "Wisconsin School Musician." Dr. Liske has presented scholarship and interest sessions at national conferences of NAfME, the Society for Music Teacher Education, Technology Institute for Music Educators, Midwest Kodály Music Educators, and many state association conferences. In 2016 he was invited lecturer at the Seoul (South Korea) Natl. Univ. of Education Conference on Creativity and Character Education, and in 2017, a juried presenter at the European Assn. for Music in Schools/ISME Regional Conference at Mozarteum University Salzburg (Austria). He has been elected to Kappa Delta Pi Intl. Honor Society in Education, and Pi Kappa Lambda National Honor Society in Music.
