About Kenneth Megginson

Project Geologist in Schnabel Engineering's Richmond, VA office. I have nearly 20 years of professional experience mostly in Virginia, but also in Washington DC, Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Maine, California, and Texas. I have also worked on barges and vessels in reservoirs, rivers, and ocean. I am presently in the environmental department. I am experienced with soil, sediment, groundwater and surface water sampling; soil and rock hydraulic conductivity testing; installation and monitoring of geotechnical and environmental instrumentation, contaminated soil assessment and removal; SPCC plan development; field investigations involving chemical releases and evaluation of dredge spoils; underground storage tank removals, Phase I ESAs, Phase II soil and groundwater sampling, and various other subsurface investigations. I also have experience with asbestos surveys and lead-based paint screenings of various structures including pump houses, warehouses, and historic structures. I also have experience with geotechnical and environmental sediment sampling investigations within channels, reservoirs, lakes, rivers, and ocean using various sampling methods. My experience also includes geotechnical engineering, dam engineering, engineering geophysics, hydrogeologic, and rock slope mapping. Responsibilities have included site investigations; site supervision; soil and rock logging from land and water for nuclear and non-nuclear power plants, proposed and existing dams, proposed and existing bridges, water parks, coal-mine subsidence features, and numerous other projects; installation and monitoring of geotechnical and environmental instrumentation, in situ testing including permeability/infiltration, pressuremeter, soil and rock hydraulic conductivity testing; water well location studies; aquifer testing; and geologic mapping; Certified Professional Geologist, VA Certified Asbestos Inspector, VA Certified Lead-Based Paint Inspector, VA HAZWOPER 40-hour training Attended National Highways Institute's Subsurface Investigation Qualification Program Member of Association of Engineering Geologists Participated in geologic mapping reviews for the Richmond, Bon Air, and Seven Pines Quadrangles Former Treasure, Vice President, and President of Virginia Geologic Field Conference.
