In each of my roles, I have taken the lead in finding ways to continually improve processes through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. I accomplished this by bringing together cross functional groups who were directly involved in the process, and other selective team members who may not have been familiar with the entire process but were able to provide alternative views and input through review and listening. Once we were able to identify the root cause of a process failure, we then built consensus around solutions, with the goal of fixing the problem once and for all. I strongly believe that processes should be sustainable, by being flexible as changes occur, but ultimately they should be designed with scalability as a desired output. I have used this approach to significantly transform Accounts Receivable Management not by focusing solely on Collections, which is the traditional approach, but focusing on the efficiency of the upstream processes that ultimately impact Collections efficiency, such as: • Credit Risk Management • Order Release Management • Billing • Cash Applications I have leveraged the same approach in transforming Accounts Payable from the traditional, paper intensive, slow, reactive approach to one that became Vendor Focused by being proactive, analytical, efficient, cost effective and ultimately a profit center. This required leadership in bringing together the stakeholders in the Procure to Pay process to foster an understanding of the critical role everyone played in the process, and the reputational and financial damage that the organization can incur when financial obligations are not met in a timely manner.
