About Kennidi James

As an Area Manager at Amazon in Transportation, I am responsible for engagement and DEI in the Southwest region. I have risen through the ranks from a Tier 1 associate to my current position as an L5 Manager. What drew me to Amazon was their inclusivity of trans people and their comprehensive benefits package. Since joining Amazon, I have been actively involved in the Glamazon community, which supports the LGBTQIA community. Currently, I am the President of the Houston chapter of Glamazon. My life's backstory began in a small Baptist town outside of Houston, Texas. I knew I was different at 15, but I was uncertain of my identity until I was 18 when I met my first trans person at a drag show. I finally understood who I was and began the transition process at 20, earning my cosmetology license from Aveda Institute and transitioning fully in Chicago. During my transition, I documented my experiences in a column called "A Girl's Life" for various trans magazines, which led to speaking engagements at colleges, trans conferences, and panel discussions on trans and LGBTQIA issues. Visibility is essential, and I have always made myself visible for those who cannot be. I understand the importance of corporate inclusivity, and I am proud to work for a company that supports its employees in all aspects of their lives.
