Background
About Kenny Silva
When I was a kid and I got asked the question “What you want to do when you grow up?” I would answer Veterinarian or a Barber. Circumstances made me work at a young age to care for my family so my dream had to pause. I graduated High School in 2008 and started working as a sales person. My personality and enthusiasm helped me to grow in that company and eventually I got promoted and was in charge, with another District Manager, to recruit, teach and motivate new sales representatives. Still, that was not my passion and I decided to get my barber license. All my previous experience was very useful because I developed great customer service skills. I eventually was in charge of promoting the barbershop, scheduling appointments, maintaining sanitation and organized work areas. I was the first person that people saw receiving you with a smile. My steady hands helped me do great haircuts and shaves with very sharp razors without cutting people. Of course, I was prepared and have the knowledge to properly care for that. I came across a two-week-old puppy that was dying because his mom bit off one leg. I decided to remove him from the litter and treat him. The chances for him to survive were close to zero. I took care of him, cleaned his wound, bandaged him, fed and stimulated him to relieve himself. This event reminded me that my dream was to work in the veterinary field. I am a Certified Veterinary Assistant and currently assisting school to become a Certified Veterinary Technician. I aspire to advance my education and specialize in either surgery or emergency and critical care. I am a self-motivated person who thinks that working as a team is key. I work well under minimal supervision and also work well under pressure. I believe that my experience, skills, qualities, compassion and love for animals will make me a great Veterinary Technician
