About Kenny Stuart

Lt. Kenny Stuart has served as a Seattle Fire Fighter since 1996. He is currently a Lieutenant on Ladder Company 8 in Ballard. He also serves as the President of Seattle Fire Fighters Union, IAFF Local 27. I firmly believe in the power of principled leadership to address and resolve important and complex issues. True leadership requires sacrifice, trust, and strong relationships. Through principled leadership I strive to solve problems and generate solutions to achieve our objectives, empower and elevate people, and make this a better place. As a fire fighter and a fire officer I have responded to all types of emergency incidents including structure fires, ship fires, vehicle fires, vehicle accidents, shootings, hazardous materials, incidents, water rescues, and life-threatening, medical emergencies. I have also served in a variety of roles and positions to improve the Seattle Fire Department, public safety, and to benefit the people of Seattle including participating on several mayoral transition teams. I have responded to the COVID-19 pandemic as a first reponder, performing COVID-19 tests and delivering vaccinations as part of the Seattle Fire Department’s pandemic response. I have served in a variety of roles and positions to represent and improve wages, hours, and working conditions for fire fighters and other workers including as a Director, Vice-President, and currently President of the Seattle Fire Fighters Union, as co-chair of the Coalition of City Unions I am currently volunteering as a Director of the Executive Board of MLK Labor, as a Trustee on the Seattle Fire Fighters Healthcare Trust, and as a member of the board of Seattle’s Bravest Charity. Kenny lives in Ballard with his wife Colette and two boys Coen and Clay.
