In choosing a career in Environmental Safety and Health, I opted for a career in stewardship. My profession is one in which the careful and responsible management of the work environment, worker safety, environmental policy, and sustainability are critical. This good stewardship is crucial to the present, but it is also vital to our future. I am a voracious reader. Science and history are two of my favorite subjects. Through a guest speaker in college, I first learned about the human and environmental disaster of Love Canal, NY. As I researched and learned more about this catastrophe, I became inspired to build a career in Environmental Safety & Health. I am now an ES & H professional with years of successful, responsible stewardship ranging from the specialty chemical industry to commercial nuclear and combined cycle gas plant construction. My broad experience in ES & H includes: • Asbestos Abatement Oversight • Chemical & Physical Hazard Assessments • Wastewater Treatment • Respiratory/PPE Requirements and Engineering Controls • Training and Emergency Response • HAZMAT, SARA, TSCA, RCRA • Permitting and Annual Reporting Progress will never cease. However, growth can be carefully and responsibly managed to mitigate adverse effects on the environment, the workforce, and local communities.
