About Kent Clay

I have over 25 years of public accounting experience serving multistate clients and lead Deloitte's Carolinas Multistate Tax Practice. We have offices in Charlotte and Raleigh. However, I travel throughout North Carolina and South Carolina. My multistate tax experience includes corporate income and franchise taxes, including compliance, controversy and planning. Other areas of expertise include state and local tax planning for mergers, acquisitions and dispositions, developing tax planning strategies for complex corporate and partnership transactions, conducting nexus studies, credits and incentive reviews, and representing clients before various taxing authorities and review boards. I have significant experience in serving manufacturing, services, retail, distribution, transportation and international clients. Having spent 24 years in Deloitte's Atlanta office, I have significant experience working with the Georgia Department of Revenue. I am one of Deloitte's Georgia technical and controversy leaders.Outside Deloitte, my interested have heavily been involved with my three boys' activities. With only one child left at home, my wife (Terilyn) and I enjoy spending more time together hiking, biking and travelling.
