About Kent S.

As a Licensed Substitute Teacher at Portland Public Schools, I apply my Ed.M. in College Student Services Administration and my MAT in Secondary Social Studies to support the academic and social development of students from various backgrounds and abilities. I have over three years of experience in providing meaningful and relevant instruction to students with diverse learning needs, as a substitute teacher with Portland Public Schools. as well as my previous roles, such as a Social Studies Teacher at Westview High School (Beaverton, OR), from 1998-2001. In my current and previous roles, I have demonstrated my skills and knowledge in collaborating with teacher teams, co-teaching lessons, using a variety of assessment tools and data, planning and preparing instructional tasks, and implementing best practices in instruction. I am passionate about empowering people through knowledge and education, and I have also obtained a State of Oregon Insurance License to help individuals and families find the best health insurance options for their needs. I am always eager to learn new skills and to adapt to the changing needs of the education and insurance sectors.
