About Kenton Sim

Kenton retains 25 years of expertise in Airport Operations, this includes over 15 years in Senior Management. He started his aviation career in 1998 as an Airport Planner at the Airports Company South Africa and is currently employed as Group Manager: Aviation Regulatory Standards. He has a broad range of experience in airport operations: aerodrome certification, safety management systems, civil aviation regulations and technical standards, development and maintenance of airport standard operational procedures, airport master planning, passenger terminal design, environmental management, ACI airport carbon accreditation, aircraft stand geometric design, runway and taxiway geometric design, implementation of airport pavement management system, management of consultants, project manage runway and taxiway rehabilitation, project management installation and maintenance of navigational aids and automated weather observing systems, project manage airspace design and validation of instrument flight procedures, ground handling services, licensing airside service providers.Experience includes involvement with airports in South Africa, Africa, Italy, India and Brazil. He served as the President of the Airports and Aerodrome Association of South Africa.He was the South African Representative at the United Nations (UN) International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Civil Aviation Environmental Protection Committee (CAEP).(2007 to 2010 and 2013 to 2016).He served as an alternate Director of the Commercial Aviation Association of South Africa. He participated in the 35th, 36th, 38th, 39th and 40th ICAO Assembly’s and attended various ICAO High Level Meetings, Seminars and Conferences including Air Navigation Conferences.He participated in the Airports Council International World Operations Safety Sub-Committee (2002 to 2008).He is a member of the South African Civil Aviation Regulation Committee and National Airspace Committee (2002 to present).
