My college graduation was approaching when I decided that SALES would be my profession of choice. I was talking to my Political Science professor who I greatly respected about a paper I'd written on Osama bin Laden / PLO & Israeli relations when he made a glancing comment that "sales is where the money is". My 23 yr-old brain somehow took that as a marching order and thus my passion ensued. Subsequently my career began in the medical equipment space within a niche of the Urology sector called ESWL "Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy. It's a unique space as Urologists have been given gov't/(CMS) approval to invest in physician-owned partnerships (LLC's) and self-refer their patients to gain a new & dynamic revenue-stream. For several years I engaged on both sides of this business as a sales-person & business-developer/fiduciary driving new revenue in the form of capital sales, LLC development & contract execution with of Urologists and 100's of healthcare facilities throughout the Northeast. Having a desire to learn more about the sales process through various methodology. I joined & operated w/ companies like Stryker & Intuitive Surgical who heavily invest in structured & robust sales-training programs. I hold these companies in high-regard as to the impact they had on my knowledge of strategic selling & true value-based closing. It wasn't long before the excitement of a start-up opportunity presented itself. I had a unique chance to join an exponentially-growing business in the addiction treatment space. It's an unfortunate & tragic industry sometimes but woefully needed & currently valued at roughly $6B. After spinning-off a start-up in LA, running a $70M Region for Siemens; when the pandemic hit in March, 2020 - the world changed for many and I was no exception. I had a moment or perhaps several where I tried to score my happiness and the grade was never above average. It solidified what we already know as sales people. Culture Is Everything; and bad ones can be debilitating. Top performing sales-people put their whole heart in it and it's up to the organizations to provide the atmosphere & appropriate leaders to amplify their success; not suck the life out of it. I wanted FUN! Exciting! New- Something totally different & EXPLODING in revenue growth. And so, I'm fascinated & intrigued by the possibilities & sheer rumbling of what is now the fastest growing industry in the WORLD. Cannabis!
