About Kerrie Richards

I am a teacher with over seventeen years experience. I currently teach 4th grade teacher and am a department chair and teacher mentor. I have a bachelor's degree in clinical psychology with a concentration in school counseling, a bachelor's degree in childhood education, and a master's degree in special education. My teaching career has been geared toward the academic and socio-emotional well being of elementary school children. I have a strong passion to educate young minds and help them to blossom into well rounded, responsible, and successful individuals. Providing an opportunity for a child to take risks and become excited to learn is a priceless experience. In my experience, I have been fortunate enough to have opportunities to teach diverse groups of students, including those with learning disabilities, those who perform at grade level, and those who are gifted and talented. As a result, I have become proficient at designing creative and stimulating lesson plans, which accommodate multiple intelligences and keep students interested and engaged. Not only am I dedicated to my students and their success, but I am also a devoted teacher who thrives as part of a team. I enjoy collaborating with colleagues and administrators to enhance the experience of students at my current school. I believe that all students deserve the opportunity to learn through experience and engaging inquiry, and I think they can accomplish this level of knowledge through a highly integrated and interdisciplinary approach. My passion for teaching, love of learning, and ability to motivate others to become lifelong learners sets me apart from other candidates.
