About Kerry Downing

After finishing my degree specialising in saxophone performance and film, I travelled the world for a year, busked and worked in a bar in Sydney to further fund my travels. Upon my return to England I started my film career as a runner at The Film Editors in Soho. I worked my way to assistant editor, learning how to work on commercials, pop promo’s and feature films whilst learning from the best in the industry. Later I worked at Johnny Bongo and continued to assist and learn my craft until I began to start editing my own work. I then became a freelance video editor working on corporate videos.During these times I continued to gig playing saxophone in various bands and venues around London, including the Soho jazz festival.In 2007, I became a peripatetic piano, flute, saxophone and clarinet teacher. I also started working for the Hertfordshire Music Service and work in primary and secondary schools, teach from home face to face and remotely.I am now looking to further my career by teaching in a further education establishment hoping to use all my skill set whilst studying for my PGCE.
