About Kerstin Heitzke

Clothing has been essential and influential since a young age. Throughout my academic and work life, I have explored different facets of dress. My experience ranges from costuming for the stage, merchandising a store, to studying the sociological and historical impacts. My research focuses on contemporary craft and its intersection with music subcultures and fashion. Instagram's aesthetics and communication method play a large role in my work, depicting and exploring how the design and search functions create communities. Communication is important to all aspects of my career. My academic research has led the the opportunity to present at professional conferences across the globe. I worked for customer-centric companies where communication with customers can either make or break a day. I know how to handle difficult conversations, share knowledge, and navigate any situation that arises. I am looking for opportunities that tie aspects of my work and academic interests together. Brands and companies that work with craftsmen and makers across the globe, as well as those with an eye to sustainability.
