About Kevin Albert

The first years of my engineering career were spent as a design engineer, and subsequently project engineer, at a global leader in printing equipment manufacturing. I was fortunate to have to have been involved in some interesting and challenging projects, and work with a lot of great people. I performed machine design and analysis on large scale industrial systems and was consistently recognized as a major contributor and top performer. I began to develop an interest in software and took advantage of several opportunities to produce software utilities that could be used in my job. Several of these tools proved useful to others in the engineering department and became part of the development group utilities. After 15 years in mechanical engineering I felt I wanted to explore software development as a career and was given the opportunity to transfer into the electrical engineering group with my employer. Over the next 15 years I worked diligently to learn a new skill, making major contributions to the company's flagship control system offering in both a developer and project leader capacity. The control system is installed on over 800 sites in 17 countries. The scale of the equipment controlled ranges from individual press components to multi-story printing systems. The framework tier components, for which I was directly responsible, was adopted for use in company divisions in France and the Netherlands. As print continued to decline as a viable industry, I took advantage of an opportunity to join a successful company that designs and builds medical testing instrumentation for hospital and independent laboratories. I have embraced the technical and process challenges associated with participating in the development of medical instrumentation. As a staff software engineer I am enjoying working as a team leader, developer, and mentor. Specialties: C++, C#, Python, Java, multithreaded applications, client/server design application and implementation.
