Behavioral Health CEO, VP, Executive, Director, Interim Contractor, ConsultantStarted my career in my early 20’s after obtaining my BA degree in Sociology. Volunteering in the evenings at a free standing, physician owned, psychiatric hospital in CA quickly lead to a full-time position as a recreational therapist. I fell in love with helping others, especially adolescents that were so deeply troubled with emotional pain, that they were willing to take their own life, profoundly impacted me. Since then, I have worked in the for-profit arena for a very long time with periods of experiencing contract management and not-for-profit organizations. I have worked with all patient populations and do what I can to stay current on the latest treatment modalities and leadership approaches. I believe that staff training; team building and overall staff morale has everything to do with a positive and safe patient/staff experience. Some of my career highlights: I obtained my Master’s degree in Marriage & Family Therapy and accrued over 10 years of direct clinical patient care, assessment, treatment planning, and individual / group therapy.I have extensive experience working in medical hospitals, private acute free-standing facilities, hospital-based services, residential treatment, MAT and SUD programs, community-based services, for-profit and not-for-profit organizations.Over 12 years of multi-site operations management of varying degrees.14 plus years managing/leading acute psychiatric inpatient units and programs, 16 to 77 beds.Managed up to 300 employees, 20 plus direct reports, and multimillion dollar budgets.A third of my career has been in development and management of outpatient behavioral health and addictions services (PHP/IOP/OP and Clinics), I have successfully started, from ground zero over 15 outpatient hospital-based programs to profitable margins.Successful recruitment and contracting of physicians and Medical Directors. Serious / Passionate about Patient Care / Staff Safety, Quality Improvement, Federal /State Regulatory Compliance, CARF and Joint Commission Survey readiness. Over 8 years of university instruction – part time adjunct & full-time faculty. Successful business and referral development approaches allowed me to build relationships and increase market share of services.Development, or revisions of, Policy and Procedures for all levels of BHS is well entrenched in my career DNA.I am a relationship builder, team leader, seeker of collaboration, instructor and always strive to drive best practice approaches.
