About Kevin Belli

Kevin Belli is a documentary filmmaker, freelancer and educator. He got his start as the co-director of photography and editor on the film BEYOND BELIEF, which was filmed in the U.S. and Afghanistan. It world-premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2007 and had its broadcast debut on the Sundance Channel. Following that, he was the director of photography and editor for the film THE LIST. The film was shot over a four-year period in the U.S, Iraq, Egypt, Syria and Jordan. It world-premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2012 and had its international premiere at HotDocs. That same year he directed the short film INSTALL about installation artist Craig Colorusso. The film world-premiered at the Camden International Film Festival. Kevin was also a co-cinematographer and editor on the Emmy-nominated film WHAT TOMORROW BRINGS, which world-premiered at HotDocs in 2016. A co-production of ITVS, the film had its broadcast premiere on POV in October 2016. He then traveled back to Iraq and Nigeria as the co-director of photography for the film THE PEACEMAKER. The film world-premiered at Full Frame Film Festival and had its international premiere at HotDocs, both in 2016. Most recently, Kevin directed the documentary short MUSIC FOR PEOPLE IN JAPAN. The movie was filmed in the U.S. and Hokkaido, Japan and premiered at the Independent Film Festival Boston in May 2021. Beyond filmmaking, Kevin works as an educator. He currently works at Harvard University and teaches filmmaking in the Boston area. He lives in Somerville, MA.
