About Kevin Bennett

I’ve been employed by Chelmsford Star Co-operative for the last eighteen years, working up from the Marketing Department to my current position as Head of Membership and Marketing. My current role is varied, but I most enjoy visiting the charities and community groups we have supported through our Community Fund, which I set up with support from Essex Community Foundation. Other areas I excel at are event planning and hosting, content creation, copywriting and photography. Oh, and managing my teams to get all the above done at a standard I’m proud of, in a fair and supportive way. Before Chelmsford Star I had a varied career, developing a wide range of skills; from lab-technician to fashion label shop manager, from nightclub events co-ordinator to BBC Radio broadcaster. My proudest achievement was winning ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year (2001) for my photography business, which was presented to me by Prince (now King!) Charles. Selling this company allowed me to travel. Outside work, I enjoy writing, photography, travel, video-editing and films. I am an advocate for surrogacy and enjoy exploring Essex and further afield with my husband and baby girl. I raise money for a number of local charities in multiple ways, resulting in Chelmsford Star once recognising me as ‘Fund Raiser of the Year'.
