About Kevin Broeder

I work at the intersection of DevOps, FinOps, and Site Reliability — the space where engineering meets accountability. My profession has a title identity crisis, but what I actually do is unify the tools, systems, and practices that keep cloud infrastructure efficient, scalable, and cost-effective. Over the past 11 years at CDK Global and its spin-off, Lightspeed DMS, I’ve led our transformation from on-prem to AWS, architected Kubernetes (EKS) environments, and managed over $5M in annual cloud spend. Through deliberate FinOps governance — Savings Plans, RI management, tagging compliance, and cost forecasting — I’ve delivered consistent six-figure annual savings while improving performance and developer velocity. I approach systems the way I write: deliberately, with structure and tone. Outside of engineering, I’m an avid reader and writer, currently words into my first novel. My literary influences — Goethe, Shelley, Remarque, and Milne — reflect the same mix of philosophy, melancholy, and humanism that drives how I design systems: built to last, meaningful in form, and crafted with intent
