I would categorize myself as a solutions focused individual that looks to broaden the way information is visualized and distributed through a Geographical Information System (GIS). Through my experience in GIS I have found it astounding what can be derived from spatial data analysis and the efficiency it can give an organization. With 9+ years in the GIS industry, I have had the great pleasure of being a part of teams within academic research, local government, mining, and natural gas & petroleum transportation, all utilizing GIS for different purposes. This experience has been really exciting in that GIS has taught me the important role it plays in data analysis and decision making to its efficiency in deploying such a system across an organization’s workforce. Another great benefit that I have had while working as a GIS professional is that I was able to learn things that are non-GIS related. I have gained knowledge on what produces specific environmental hazards, where to find signs of human habitation, the construction and operation of natural gas pipelines, etc. by those I have worked with. So the GIS field provides an environment of constant learning that keeps me interested and motivated.
