About Kevin Cook

I’m inquisitive by nature and a quick learner, which allows me to adapt to new challenges in a world where technology changes the way we interact with our environment on a daily basis. I know how to find the information I need to solve each next problem. At university I learned the theoretical and practical foundations of programming and logic. My studies were done with object oriented paradigms in mind, but I also picked up styles and ideas from functional and procedural programming. More importantly I learned how to question, discover, and distill concepts into knowledge because computer science is a fluid field. Throughout college I also played guitar in an alternative-rock band. Through collaborative writing, recording, and producing I learned how to start and finish projects in a small team. I also worked toward booking, promoting, and performing music. I was fortunate enough to travel for regional shows before I decided to move on. At Allen Press I was an administrator and database developer for the Personify platform. This allowed me to get hands on experience with ETL (extract, transform, and load) operations as we migrated from SQL Server to 2008, as well as querying, reporting, uploading, and offboarding data. My time as a database developer at Sierra Trading Post allowed me to work with much more data on the back end of an e-commerce website and point-of-sale retail system. I continued to gain experience in ETL operations and added skills like C#, replication, encryption, data warehousing, and more.
