About Kevin Coombs

I’ve been a photographer with Reuters since 1989, based in London. Over the years, I’ve covered major news events across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the United States. I’ve also played a key role in establishing Reuters’ coverage of global sporting events, including the Olympic Games and the FIFA World Cup. My work has been published in international outlets such as The Times, BBC News, The Guardian, The Sunday Times, Le Monde, Libération, Le Figaro, Der Spiegel, Stern, The New York Times, The Washington Post, TIME, Newsweek, El País, Clarín, Paris Match, and hundreds of other publications worldwide—as well as in more than a dozen books. For over three decades, I’ve been at the forefront of technological and workflow innovation in news and sports photography, pioneering tools and practices that have helped shape the industry. Most recently, I led a project to rediscover and preserve tens of thousands of Reuters archival negatives from the 1980s, safeguarding a vital part of the agency’s visual history.
