Background

About Kevin Evers

I'm an acquiring book editor at Harvard Business Review with a talent for helping authors translate complex subjects into concise, energetic, and exciting content for a general business audience. I’m also the author of a new book on Taylor Swift-the first to look at her creative AND business decisions. It's called There's Nothing Like This: The Strategic Genius of Taylor Swift. RESUME STUFF: I’ve acquired and edited award-winning and bestselling books. Recent and upcoming books include Fool Me Once (a riveting take on fraud full of unbelievable stories), The First Rule of Mastery (an enlightening look at the dangers of letting other people’s opinions get to you), Mindmasters (an eye-opening look at psychological targeting through algorithms), Like (a Gladwellian romp through the history of the like button), and G.O.A.T Wisdom (an inside look at how the founders of Beekman 1802 built their brand). I’m also the author of There’s Nothing Like This: The Strategic Genius of Taylor Swift I’ve written popular articles on topics including the brain science of “cool,” Hollywood blockbusters, the art of persuasion, the unpredictability of success, and the art of being a late bloomer. I co-hosted an uncomfortably honest (but fun!) podcast about parenting, Family Management, that aired during the pandemic. FUN STUFF: I love finding cool business ideas that a general audience would appreciate. I also like making business books more human by pulling out the emotional aspects of decision-making and leadership dilemmas. I’m not an editorial memo sort of editor. I like to help others shape their ideas and I’m not afraid of the messiness of the creative process. As a writer, I love to please the heart and the mind. For example, In There’s Nothing Like This, I aimed to highlight the emotional ups and downs of being a high performer but also include fascinating tidbits and perspectives that make readers think of things in news ways.
