Responsibilities As an Investigator, he conducts surveillance investigations as well as meet the following responsibilities- Respond to RCMP file requests with a quick, flexible and operational approach that is based on sound strategy, and coordinated with RCMP’s policies and procedures- Required to conduct investigations in a manner that makes strategic sense and that are coordinated with the client’s intent- Required to conduct assignments in a proper investigative sequence including pre-operation planning, assignment assessment, evidence collection, and reporting- Provide assignment progress reports to managers as necessary- Produce accurate and detailed notes and reports- Obtain information or intelligence in a legal, ethical and confidential manner as required by law- Formulating strategy for investigations with an understanding of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and case law as they relate to criminal investigations- Preparing for and conducting structured witness and suspect interviews complete with required Charter caution - Composing Affidavits or Information To Obtain (ITO) search warrants and/or other judicial authorizations to obtain evidence - Executing CDSA and 487 search warrants and control and manage evidence- Managing complex investigations from initial intelligence gathering to conclusion of investigation and constructing disclosure packages to federal and provincial court- Developing investigation reports, recommending courses of action, and testifying during court proceedings- Conducting effective presentations to various large and small groups- Travelling as required generally within Alberta, to conduct interviews and obtain evidence.
